Good Morning!
Over the Easter break I got one of the loveliest gifts I have ever received. My Nana gave me a beautiful crocheted blanket that she made.
However, there is more to the story than that. You see many of the squares were crocheted by my great-grandmother before she died. Nana found the squares one day in a box and decided to finish what her mother had started and pass it on to me! That is why you see that some of the squares are slightly discoloured compared to others. Those are the ones that have been sitting around for decades waiting to become a blanket.
Isn’t the craftsmanship amazing?
Every little detail, right down to the tiny individual balls around the edges, is perfect.
I am in awe of the amount of work that went into this blanket and I love that I have a beautiful family heirloom to keep that has so much history behind it. Millions of thanks to my Nana for this amazing gift. I’m a lucky girl.
Do any of you have special family heirlooms?
Have a great day!
XO,

Wow, you are a lucky girl. What a beautiful piece of art. It is amazing to me to see what our mothers and grandmothers could accomplish. I have very little from my Gramma who passed 5 years ago….this is a treasure.

Beautiful Lindsey! I am amazed at the craftsmanship and how gifted women were/are at making such intricate pieces. It seems like a lost art but I know we have friends who are also very talented at knitting/crocheting (ahem..Tory). My grandmother passed away almost 13 years ago but I was quite close with her. She gave my mom some beautiful pieces of jewelry when my mom reached some important milestones in her life (ie: when they first moved to Canada, her wedding). My mom has now passed those onto me. I’d love to show them to you some time.

that is absolutely breautiful and made even more so because of the provenance. The workmanship is amazing – but then as you know I am in awe of anyone who sews or knits or quilts!!! Treasure it and enjoy wrapping yourself up in it!
